Family Learning in Scotland 2019
You have been invited to take part in this survey as a provider of Family Learning, or as a provider of professional development in Family Learning. The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.

By Family Learning we mean:

Learning that encourages family members to learn together as and within a family, with a focus on intergenerational learning. Family Learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn a bit more about how to support their children's learning.

Family learning is a powerful method of engagement and learning which can foster positive attitudes towards life-long learning, promote socio-economic resilience and challenge educational disadvantage' (Family Learning Network 2016).

Definitions on the different types of work with parents and families can be found on page 1 of the Learning together: national action plan on parental involvement, engagement, family learning and learning at home 2018-2021.
Learning Together Action Plan

Why take part?

Education Scotland is gathering information on what Family Learning programmes and professional development opportunities are being delivered across Scotland. This will help take forward the commitments in the Learning Together Action Plan and National Improvement Framework.
